The Independence Anniversary Celebration is an annual event held to commemorate Ghana\u2019s liberation from the British colonial rule. The 66th<\/sup> Independence Day Celebration was held under the theme \u201cOur Unity, Our Strength, Our Purpose.<\/p>\n

For the first time, the Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese District held its parade to mark the 66th<\/sup> Independence Celebration at the Ayeldu Catholic Basic School park in the Kwamankese Traditional Area.<\/p>\n

The celebration was well attended by the District Chief Executive, District Co-ordinating Director, Chiefs and elders from the Kwamankese Traditional Area, Religious leaders, Opinion leaders, Assembly members, heads of Departments, Teachers, Health workers, students and pupils from the District various schools all attended the celebration. The Chiefs and Queen Mothers displayed a lot of pomp and beauty as they don their regalia the rays of the sun reflect on their jewelry making them shine making the whole place agog.<\/p>\n

The District Chief Executive, Hon. Willyevans Obiri-Awuah in his speech on the theme for the Anniversary, \u201cOur Unity, Our Strength, Our Purpose\u201d touched on a number of points on the need for the populace in the District to unite to achieve a common purpose. He noted that, there is the need for unity in order to face the current economic challenges that the country is facing as well as unite for development.<\/p>\n

The Hon. DCE advised the traditional Authorities to eschew violence whenever there was chieftaincy dispute as much as possible. Hon. DCE added that, the chieftaincy issues in the District are impeding development and underscored that, when we are united as a people, that is when we find our strength then our purpose. And with that we can achieve a lot as one people. He indicated that, the Annual Independence Celebration would now be held on rotational basis between the 3 traditional areas.<\/p>\n

AWARDS<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

Awards were given to students who excelled in the 2021 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE). The award categories were as follows:<\/p>\n

BOYS CATEGORY <\/u><\/p>\n

2nd<\/sup> Runner-up \u2013 Mr. Acheampong Hayford, of Nana Yaw Appiah Memorial School, currently at St. Augustine\u2019s College-Cape Coast.<\/p>\n

1st<\/sup> Runner-up \u2013 Mr. Emmanuel Frimpong of Abakrampa Catholic Basic School, now at St. Augustine\u2019s College \u2013 Cape Coast.<\/p>\n

Best student \u2013 Mr. Desmond Essel, of Doribabs School Complex, now at Presbyterian Boys Senior High School- Accra<\/p>\n

2ND<\/sup> Runner-up \u2013 Miss Nelly Nhyira Haizel, of Old Ebu Brebia D\/A Basic School, now at Mfantseman Girls Senior High School.<\/p>\n

1ST<\/sup> Runner-up \u2013 Miss Jessica Kwofie, of Abakrampa Catholic Basic School now at Mfantseman Girls Senior High School.<\/p>\n

Best student- Miss Essuaman Wendy Adjoa, of Doribabs School Complex, now at Wesley Girls Senior High School.<\/p>\n
