As part of management’s strategy to inaugurate and equip its elected Unit Committee Members with the requisite skills to manage their affairs at the local level and improve revenue mobilization for the development of the District, A 1-day programme was organized for all the eight (8) Area Councils in the District on 30th of November 2021.
The programme started at 9:00 am and in the afternoon at 5:00 pm and was in two parts. Part one covered the training session whilst the second part dealt with the inaugural ceremony.
PART 1
The training covered various topics such as;
- The composition of Area Councils
- The functions of the Urban, Zonal and Town Councils
- Meetings of Area Councils
- Composition of Unit Committees
- Local Revenue Mobilization
PART II
An election was conducted to select a convener but the secretary for the Council was to be provided by the District Assembly. The elected Area Council Members took the oath of office which was followed by the formation of sub-committee namely Finance and Administration and Development Planning.
