Farmer’s Day Celebration

The day was jointly celebrated with the Region on 2nd December 2022 at Jukwa Zongo Park in the Twifu Hemang Lower Denkyira District. Abura Asebu Kwamankese District together with 5 other districts joined the Central Regional Farmers Day Celebration to honour the deserving hardworking farmers, fishers and processors.

The celebration was on the Theme ‘Accelerating Agriculture Development through Value Addition.’

The guest of honour in the person of Regional Minister, Hon. Mrs. Justina Marigold Assan speaking on the theme encouraged all actors along agricultural value chain to work together to add value to their agriculture activities to guarantee sustained agriculture development and food systems in the country. Hon, Regional Minister added that the theme was very instructive and eye opener in the wake of prevailing global challenges because the concept of value addition in agriculture presents very good opportunity for additional revenue generation , job creation, foreign exchange earnings and effective postharvest management.

Hon. Regional Minister in her conclusion stressed on her commitment to creating an enabling environments to encourage and increase public and private investment in agriculture. She said there is the need to support public-private partnership on investments, based on a value-chain approach, for services, infrastructure and equipment for producing crops, livestock, fishing, processing and access to markets such as transport, storage, communication and reducing pre and postharvest losses.

In all, Abura Asebu Kwamankese (A. A. K.) awarded 9 categories including the best worker whiles the Region awarded the Best regional Citrus Farmer from A. A. K. District.

The Award winners went home with varied items and certificate. The Overall District Best Farmers for 2022, went home with Certificate, a double door fridge, 32’ TV set, a bicycle, 2 full piece of cloth, 5 bar soaps, 5 cutlasses, 3 pairs of wellington boots, 2 knapsack sprayers, 4 bags of fertilizer, 4 litres of weedicides.
