INAUGURATION OF THE ABURA ASEBU KWAMANKESE DISTRICT ASSEMBLY ROAD SAFETY COMMITTEE

Pursuant to section 12(15) and 29 of the National Road Safety 2019 Act (996) and Regulations 2022 LI 2468 and the decentralization agenda of the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development to swiftly resolve issues of road safety, District Assemblies were mandated to form and inaugurate a District Road Safety Committee.

The District Co-ordinating Director Madam Tawakilitu Raji welcomed members of the committee to the inauguration ceremony and indicated that, this is a call for a national assignment. She informed the gathering that, this committee had become necessary to address the various road safety issues at the district level and also due to the decentralization agenda of the ministry.

Mrs. Linda Affotey-Annang, the National Road Safety Commission Representative indicated that, the decentralization commission would help reduce the rates of accidents and other road related issues in the country.

On the scope of work of the committee, she noted that, the modus operandi of the committee was enshrined in the constitution of the country and the National Road Safety Act (Act 993).

She noted also that, all the stakeholders were well represented on the committee and entreated all to bring on board strategies and programmes that would help promote road safety in the district.
